The Malay cuisine in Singapore is influence by other cuisines such as Indonesian and Malaysian cuisine. Most of the dishes contains a blend of rempah (spices) and sambal, all cooked into delicious dishes fit for all. Other dishes include rice and noodle dishes, influenced by the Chinese cuisine.

Malay cuisine is definitely a blend of a number of other cuisines. There is quite a number of Malay restaurants here in Singapore. Let’s take a look at some of these Malay restaurants and they might just be your next stop for a casual get-together with friends and family.

Hajah Maimunah Restaurant

This has got to be the best of all Malay restaurants in Singapore. Hajah Maimunah Restaurant serves Malay Kampong-style cuisine. Established in the 90s, the restaurants has since catered to their customers from all walks of life. Apart form enjoying the food at the restaurant, Hajah Maimunah Restaurant also provided buffet catering to suit any occasion.

Some of their signature dishes include Juicy Sundanese Grilled Chicken (from $9.90). Other dishes include Sambal Goreng (from $6.00), Beef Rendang (from $8.80), and Oxtail Soup (from $8.50). Apart from these dishes, you can also choose from their wide range of mouth-watering traditional kuihs and desserts. These kuihs and desserts include Jongkong ($1.80) Bubur Terigu ($2.50) and Bubur Pulut Hitam ($2.50).

Yassin Kampong

Yassin Kampong is a dimly-lit interior paired with the throwback to rustic kampong village. Their dishes are made only with the finest and rarest ingredients which will promise you a dining experience you will never forget. They serve a range of dishes such as seafood, beef, chicken and vegetables.

Penang Culture

Operating under GD Group Restaurants, Penang Culture embodes the dual spirit of innovation and tradition in their food. Inspired by the Penang street food culture, the restaurant offers a wide selection of hawker food. Penang Culture is also the first Penang-themed Halal restaurant in Singapore.

Uptown Malaysian Nasi Lemak

Founded by two Malaysian childhood buddies, Uptown Malaysian Nasi Lemak serves a wide variety of nasi lemak. The duo grew up in Petaling Jaya, and it is a food paradise known for Malaysian Hawker specialties such as chicken rice, curry laksa and char kuey teow.
