Looking for a tea time snack with a nostalgic old school taste? As one of the few existing traditional bakeries left in Singapore to produce their cakes from scratch, check out Happy Oven within the Beo Crescent estate.

Ondeh Ondeh Cake ($1.20/pc)
When it comes to ondeh ondeh cake, Happy Oven has set the bar high. Their coconut shaving is fluffy and fresh and is a perfect combination with their Pandan cake base which is soft and tasty. Enjoy the smoky gula melaka (brown sugar) goodness slowly oozing out of the cake as well! This is a must try when you are in the area.
Apple Crumble King ($1.20/pc)
Their apple crumble really hits the spot too but do note that to an average sized individual with a sweet tooth, these are more bite sized so don’t take the “king” too seriously! Happy Oven’s signature apple crumble is buttery and the sweet and sourish soft apple filling with a slight hint of cinnamon was well balanced and generous.
The crispy biscuity crust dusted in icing sugar stays crisp even when eaten chilled and we would definitely eat an upsized version of this any time.
Pandan Kaya Cake ($0.80/pc)
Are you a fan of kaya? The house-made kaya filling here is a nostalgic one, as the recipe has not change since 30 years ago. The pandan kaya is creamy and smooth which goes well together with the light pandan sponge cake. The cake is also not too sweet, of a good serving size and is sure to please everyone from the young to the old.
Classic Cream Puff ($1.20/pc)
Light and airy cream puffs are my favourite and Happy Oven does not disappoint. Their cream puffs are filled with their house-made custard cream and then dusted it with a light coating of powdered sugar that will definitely bring back a wave of nostalgia.
Chocolate Éclair ($1.20/pc)
With a thin crust to allow the flavor of our signature house-made chocolate cream to shine through, we were delighted to find that the cream inside the chocolate éclair was also chocolate cream. The cream was not too sweet, light and also comes with a pleasant lingering chocolate flavor after eating.
Happy Oven remains resilient to stick by their traditions and practices in making their cakes. With an extensive range of fruity, savoury, and chocolate-based products, from classic sugar rolls to trendy red velvet cupcakes, there is surely something here that you will love.
