Tired of the limited attractions you can go to in Singapore? Want to challenge your limits? Come try out Singapore’s first and only Skypark Bungy Jump over Siloso Beach, operated by the world-famous AJ Hackett group!
After the reopening, Skypark Sentosa by AJ Hackett partnered with Klook and won the Outstanding Marketing Idea at the Singapore Tourism Award 2021. They were recognised for its No Scream Challenge campaign, where participants who did not scream when they Bungy jump got their next jump for free, and those who screamed received an ice-cream treat.
Don’t worry, I’m still alive and writing after doing the Bungy Jump at AJ Hackett Sentosa. And thank God I did not have to do the No Scream Challenge. Here’s what went down!
After you alight at Beach Station via Sentosa Express, you can choose to take the Sentosa Beach Shuttle and alight at Skypark Sentosa stop, or walk along the road towards Sky Park. Once you see the 47m-high Bungy tower from afar, you know you are in the right direction. (P.S. The Sentosa Express is currently free until the end of September 2021!)
Bungy Jump
Pre-book your jump session online before you head down, especially during peak periods such as weekends. You can also pre-book on Klook to enjoy up to 15% off! Pro Tip: Go bungee jumping at around 5.30pm or 6pm – just in time to see the beautiful sunset!
On the date of your visit, register your booking ID and personal details as well as take your weight. If you did not manage to book online beforehand, just head to the counter to make your payment first and continue with your registration.
Do note that you must weigh between 45kg and 150kg in order to qualify for the activity! After you’re all registered, you will receive a ‘First Class’ flight ticket to Australia. Haha no, I meant to the platform upstairs where you can prepare for the jump.
I know what you’re thinking – how safe can bungee jumping be? Don’t worry and leave the technicalities to the jumpmasters. They will definitely make sure you are in good hands.
Your ankles will be wrapped in thick towels, and you will also be strapped with a camera to record your entire experience. They will put you at ease and tell you everything you need to do step-by-step. You just need to focus on getting off the ledge.
If you want to challenge yourself even further, you can let the jumpmasters know what kind of tricks you want to do as you jump, such as forward or reverse swan dives, or even to end your jump with a little dip into the pool below. They will adjust the Bungy cord accordingly!
This is the hardest part – walking like a penguin to the ledge and standing there. Here’s a mistake not to make – peeking downward. After all, the ground is 47m away, which is as high as a 17-storey HDB flat.
I won’t discount the breath-taking panoramic views of Sentosa though. If you are lucky, a sunset is even more captivating. However, you will be snapped back to reality very quickly as the jumpmaster start counting down…
“5…4…3…2…1…”
The jumpmaster had to countdown twice as I was too afraid to jump, but there’s nothing scarier than taking the first leap off the platform. You’ll experience a 3-second free-fall before the cord’s tension kicks in, and you start swinging like a giant pendulum. It sounds scary but I promise it’s definitely worth it! I will undoubtedly sign myself up for another go if there’s a chance to!
After your jump, you will receive a Bungy Jump e-certificate and AJ Hackett lifetime membership.
Price: $89 ($79 on Klook)
Besides plummeting down a 47m-high Bungy Tower, you can ride a Giant Swing that hurtles earthward at 120km/hr, or walk along a glass-panelled Skybridge.
Giant Swing
If you are too afraid to jump alone but want to chase adrenaline, grab one or two friends along and conquer new heights (literally) together! DO note that with the current COVID-19 pandemic, only two people are allowed to swing at a time.
While you enjoy your views 40m above sea level, remember to look at the crew! Once he raises the flag, be prepared to pull the lever at the side of your harness and swing at speeds of more than 120km/h!
Do note that if the wind is too strong (above 10-14km/h), it would be perilous to swing, and hence, the ride would not be counted, even if you are already hanging up there. Participants can come back after 30 minutes to try again.
After your swing, you will receive a Giant Swing e-certificate and AJ Hackett lifetime membership.
Price: $59 ($51 on Klook)
Sky Bridge
If you are not an adrenaline junkie but still want to experience a thrill, walk along the open-air sky bridge at 17-storeys high and enjoy a bird’s eye view of Sentosa Siloso Beach.
After you take the elevator to Level 17, you will see the sunset deck, right beside the bungy jumping area, where you can sit and chill. It is also fun to see people on the Giant Swing and Bungy screaming at the top of their lungs.
It was very windy up there, and along the bridge, there were several see-through glass panels. Peek into the glass panels, or even step on them for a tinge of thrill! For the best wobbly legs effect, step onto the glass booth and let go of the railings!
Price: $15
If you are hungry after all that adrenaline, head to the Summerhouse Beach Club on the ground floor.
There are many chill areas on the ground floor or along the beach that you can eat and drink at. You can enjoy your food while watching your friend dive down. With so much to do, you will never be bored with a day out at Skypark Sentosa!
