Initiate Lunar New Year off right with PizzaExpress’ Chinese New Year menu, which features limited-time-only creations like the Bak Kwa & Pork Floss Pizza and Pineapple Dough Balls — PizzaExpress’ take on the classic pineapple tarts, fashioned with their trademark dough balls that we all know and love.
Start off with the Bak Kwa & Pork Floss Pizza ($32.80). Just the sight of the pizza itself is stunning with plenty of ingredients such as pork bak kwa, shrimp crackers, pork floss, spring onion, Chinese coriander and sweet plum sauce.
The first bite of the pizza gave me a sweet and savoury experience and I was immediately entranced by the flavour. Combined by 2 of my favourite food Bak Kwa and Pizza, I fell in love with the pizza right away. The homemade passata (pureed tomatoes) sauce alongside with the well-defined flavour of the Bak Kwa is full of umami when paired with pork floss. This is a unique combination that you must try.
The famous Pizza Express doughball, popular with adults and children alike, is updated in January! PizzaExpress’ homemade pineapple chutney takes centre stage on the appetizer table, serving as a classic pineapple tart. The Pineapple Doughballs ($9.80) was astonishingly soft and the pineapple chutney truly brings out the natural sweetness of the pineapple doughballs. This is something you need to eat while it is still piping hot!
Be prepared to be enchanted with this Tiger Prawn Scallop Spaghetti with X.O Sauce ($31.80). The Tiger Prawn was firm and when mixed with the X.O sauce, its cream sauce explodes with umami flavour. The scallops were firm and soft and went really well with the incredible X.O sauce.
Enjoy the best of both worlds with the Half Half Pizza – Carbonara & Hawaii-not ($29.00). Starting with the Carbonara portion, the piquant creamy bechamel sauce is topped with a fully cooked egg. With the addition of bacon, the dish reminds me of a café brunch meal with bacons and egg.
The other half of the pizza features a hawaiian style pizza featuring ham with pineapple chutney. For those who dislike pineapple on pizza this is something you should really try. I barely even notice the pineapple on the pizza and honestly I really enjoyed both portions. Perfect for people like me who couldn’t decide.
The Big Bad Brownie ($10.00) brings the show to a close on a pleasant note. Chocolate brownie chunks are presented with vanilla gelato, caramel sauce, and crunchy pistachios in this deconstructed dessert. Anyone with a sweet tooth will definitely love this.
Perfect for sharing, these new dishes will be available from 24 January to 28 Febuary for dine-in, takeaway and islandwide delivery. Add to the festive atmosphere and be a hit at your next visiting. What are you waiting for? Don’t forget to book a date and treat yourself on a day out at PizzaExpress.
