Enjoy a new selection of dishes celebrating different regions and cultures with the new refreshed Grand Menu at Earle Swensen’s! We visited the recently renovated outlet at VivoCity, which features Earle Swensen’s newly rebranded concept and fresh look.

The interior of the restaurant looks sleek and stylish, giving the restaurant a classier and more upmarket feel than the previous Earle Swensen’s decor. There are even live band performances every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7-9pm!

New Dishes On The Grand Menu

Seafood Chowder in Sourdough Bread Bowl / with Sourdough Slice

Start your meal with a decadent Seafood Chowder in Sourdough Bread Bowl ($15)! Alternatively, there’s a Seafood Chowder with Sourdough Slice ($13) option, which is what we got. The soup is thick and creamy and hides treasures like a halved mussel, boiled clams, smoked duck, turkey bacon flakes and tuber vegetables!

The sourdough slice was toasted to the perfect crunch level, with a crispy outside but moist and chewy inside. It was flavourful and not too sour, a perfect accompaniment to the rich chowder.

The Golden Bun

The Golden Bun ($19) was inspired by the bustling streets of New York City with an added twist from Friuli, Italy. The burger itself features a beef patty topped with Monterey Jack cheese, a tantalising burger sauce and caramelised onions between sweet, fluffy brioche buns that have been buttered and toasted on both sides. We were impressed by the toppings and bread, which tasted high quality and well-prepared.

You can choose your patty style of either “Perfect” for a juicy grilled patty or “Smashed!” for a caramelised crispy crust. We tried the “Smashed!” variant, and it was deliciously juicy, something we didn’t expect from a flattened patty!

The pièce de résistance of this seemingly classic burger is the Parmesan crisp on top, which is made using the traditional method from Friuli, Italy. It’s crunchy and deliciously salty and adds a great texture to the moist burger and soft buns.

This dish comes with U.S. fries on the side, which manage to stay perfectly crunchy throughout the meal. The Golden Bun was one of our favourite dishes we tried!

The Chicken Katsu Baga バーガー

As you can see from the image, The Chicken Katsu Baga バーガー ($16) comes with a huge chicken katsu patty! It’s topped with julienned cabbage and a special katsu sauce, which are the traditional accompaniments of a Japanese katsu (meaning “cutlet”). It’s sandwiched between soft brioche buns and served with U.S. fries on the side.

The patty is deliciously juicy and not dry at all. The crispy crust of the katsu also added a great texture to the burger, and combined with the cabbage and sauce, made for a super delicious mouthful!

Steak Au Poivre (200g)

The Steak Au Poivre (200g) ($32) is a classic French steak. It’s crusted with coarsely cracked peppercorns which add a surprising amount of punch and is served with a creamy pan sauce. It comes with U.S. fries on the side, made from Idaho potatoes.

The steak is seared well, leaving the inside of the meat still pink and tender. The cut is super thick and not like the basic thinner steaks you’ll normally get at restaurants, making this a special treat!

S’mores Waffle

The S’mores Waffle ($12) is a sweet end to a delicious meal! Thick and crispy waffles are topped with gooey torched marshmallows and covered in chocolate fudge, digestive crumbs and a butterscotch sauce. You can also choose to add a scoop of gelato or ice cream to round off this dessert treat!

The waffles were crunchy on the outside and fluffy and chewy on the inside, which is a texture we greatly enjoyed. It’s definitely a generously-sized sweet treat you can share with others at the table!
