It’s a harsh reality, but not everyone is gifted with an artistic ability. However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and we can always splatter paint all over the place and hope for the best! Seen snippets of someone throwing paint while the canvas spins to create a work of art? That’s where Spin Paint House enters the picture.
A sister brand of Splat Paint House, Spin Paint House’s Standard Package ($65 for 1 pax) will provide you with a canvas along with the tools and paint needed to create your masterpiece. There are packages available to suit a variety of situations, including groups of up to 5 people and booths for children to share. If you aren’t sure how to begin your splattering fun, let the experts guide you along the way.
Pro Tip: Come in clothes you would not mind getting paint on! If you are worried about bad smelling chemical paint, rest assured that the paint used is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, child safe and most importantly has no unpleasant odours. The paint provided is washable but could stain certain fabrics thus protective aprons and shoe covers are provided free too!
Before you start, the experts at Spin Paint House will show several techniques and guide you on how to use the Spin Art table. If you are too shy to ask for a second round of demonstration, don’t worry. There are looped videos in the workshop that can be viewed at any time during the session to get ideas and see which techniques were used by the artists to create their work.
When you purchase a package, a standard 40 x 56cm canvas will be provided but you can always top up to change it into a Circle (+$2), a Square (+$8) or a Heart Shaped Canvas (+$12). Pricings differ if you are looking to add on a extra canvas instead.
Apply the paint in a variety of methods, including dripping it from the bottle, using a pendulum swing, trapezes, or rollers and brushes. Depending on how rapidly you spin the canvas, the patterns and paint effects you create will change.
Exploring and fiddling with the various approaches is part of the pleasure and fun as the possibilities are unlimited!
Each booth is partitioned and houses one spin art table, a kid’s wheel, and a ring light with phone stand making it a great opportunity for a time lapse video. After making your masterpiece, do note that you can’t bring it home with you immediately! It usually takes 2-3 days for your artwork to dry thus you would have to come back to collect it.
As Spin Paint House will only hold your paintings for up to 2 weeks after your session, remember to collect your canvas during the operating hours or save yourself the trouble to travel and just ask them to deliver it to you island wide for a fee of $25.
Time really flies when you are having fun and personally, I had a lot of fun playing and painting. Despite not being artistic gifted, I learnt to let go, let nature take its course and the final product was breath-taking. I highly recommend anyone with artistic talent or not to visit Spin Paint House and have a go with Spin Art for a relaxing and rewarding experience.
