It is no secret that the STAR WARS franchise has a connection to Singapore, even having a building named after an iconic machine in the film, The Sandcrawler. (Sandcrawler building ) The STAR WARS Identities: The Exhibition will happen at the Art Science Museum for its last stop of its international journey from 30th January 2021 till 13th June 2021.
This exhibition focuses mainly on the first six films of the Star Wars franchise. So the #OGgang rejoice as the exhibition focuses on the original film trilogy (STAR WARS (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and Return of the Jedi (1983). Together with the prequels from 1999 to 2005 and the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars from 2008 till 2020 and the movie Star Wars: the force Awakens (2015).
On display at the Art Science Museum are original props, costumes, and concept art from the films like the Millennium Falcon and the Imperial Star Destroyer. There are also, on display, original storyboards, model-making techniques, and puppets used in the original film making.
STAR WARS Identities: The Exhibition is hailed as different and unique as it is designed as an interactive exhibit where visitors can interact with the exhibits via a wrist band and can design their own virtual STAR WARS Character to take home as a memento. As quoted by Coconuts Singapore, museum director Honor Harger commented that the “STAR WARS Identities uses original artwork from the epic space saga to explore human identity in an innovative way,” he continued by encouraging visitors to ponder the motivation and forces that shape who we are as individuals as they go through the exhibition.
