Making its first overseas debut at Jurong Point (#03-56), Cai Lin Ji (蔡林记) is introducing Singapore to the authentic flavors of Hubei street food with delicacies that can usually only be found locally in Hubei.
Look forward to freshly made servings of their award-winning dry hot noodles and a vibrant array of street food items that will provide diners with a comprehensive experience of Hubei street cuisine.
Among its offerings, the renowned Signature Hot Dry Noodles (热干面) has been awarded the title of “Top 10 Noodles in China,” with its roots dating back to Cai Lin Ji’s establishment in 1928 in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China.
Made with jian shui alkaline noodles that are slender, smooth, and springy with excellent bite, Cai Lin Ji’s Signature Zha Jiang Hot Dry Noodles ($7.90) is our go to when you visit.
With a fragrant earthiness from their secret black sesame sauce and a medley of spices, this is a unique taste not found elsewhere that will delight your tastebuds.
The Hot Dry Noodles series are also available in different varieties such as Beef Hot Dry Noodles ($9.90), Beef & Tripe Hot Dry Noodles ($12.90) and Shrimp Hot Dry Noodles ($11.90).
With exclusive Hubei street food flavours, diners can savour specialties such as the Three Delicacies Dou Pi ($4.50 for 1 pc, $8.50 for 2 pcs), a traditional Hubei snack with layers of potato flour, steamed egg, glutinous rice, pork belly and mushrooms.
Pan-fried to a golden crispy hue, this delicious dish is also known locally as 三鲜豆皮 (san xian dou pi) and is widely found anywhere and everywhere in Hubei.
The Signature Shao-Mai ($3.90 for 3 pcs) here also presents a unique Hubei twist on dumplings. Featuring a larger hand-made dumpling, the filling includes sticky rice, raisins, rock candy, peanuts, osmanthus flower, orange peel, and shredded carrots.
This may be an unusual combination for most but one should know that it has a savoury and peppery aftertaste despite its unique inclusion of ingredients. Don’t believe us? Make your way down to Jurong Point to try it for yourself!
The menu also includes items like their Signature Lotus Root Pork Rib Soup ($11.90) that is served with a specially flown in lotus root from Honghu Lake, Hubei that is more fibrous and starchy with a comforting taste of home.
Other soup options that is great for sharing includes their Han Kou Wonton ($6.90 / 10 pieces) and Shrimp Wonton ($9.90 / 10 pieces) that is freshly made in-house daily in their store.
For desserts, wash it all down with Mung Bean Soup ($2.90) or try their Hubei specialties like Signature Osmanthus Paste Rice Wine ($3.90) and Signature Egg Drop Rice Wine ($4) for a sweet and floral finish.
With its rich history and commitment to preserving Hubei’s culinary traditions, Cai Lin Ji is poised to bring a unique and authentic taste of Wuhan and Hubei street food to Singaporeans and visitors alike.
