Cafe Usagi is founded by Chef Yuka who has a passion of being an entrepreneur to start out a cafe business and a desire to promote Japanese culture. Through Café Usagi, Chef Yuka wishes to create more delectable edibles for Singapore, each standing out sweet and proud with a Japanese touch.

Chef Yuka

Cafe Usagi offers Single Scoop Japanese Flavoured Handcrafted Ice Cream ($5 onwards) with many unique flavours to choose from, such as Lavender Hojicha and Samurai Blue Sea Salt.

A familiar flavour that we know about — Matcha, is one of Cafe Usagi’s tasty flavours. Using highly quality Matcha, Cafe Usagi’s Uji Matcha Ice Cream flavour is perfect for both Matcha and Non-Matcha lovers.

New menu items

Cafe Usagi Rabbit Bread

New mainstays at the café include the Cafe Usagi Rabbit Bread ($8.80/loaf) which are freshly baked every day and comes in three flavours: Hokkaido Chocolate Chip, Matcha with Hokkaido Azuki Red Bean and Mochi, and Milk White Bread.

The chocolate bread is made with premium dark chocolate which hits the spot for chocolate lovers while the matcha with Hokkaido azuki red bean and mochi is fluffy, chewy and velvety with its inviting green hue due to the premium matcha powder imported from Japan.

Delightful desserts

Cafe Usagi Original Waffles with Kuromitsu Syrup and a scoop of ice cream

Warm Original Waffles with Kuromitsu Syrup ($6.50) are also available to pair with the ice cream. Mochi lovers will most definitely enjoy their Warm Mochi Waffles with Kuromitsu Syrup ($8.50) which has a lovely twist to the usual waffles. Try it for yourself as the Mochi Waffles are so enjoyable that one would nod in approval as they consume it.

Cafe Usagi Signature Mochi With Matcha Ice Cream

Another menu item that will interest Mochi lovers is their Mochi Ice Cream ($6 onwards) where one can enjoy the chewy texture of Mochi that goes hand in hand with ice cream. Choose any ice cream flavour you like or for those who aren’t sure what to get, we recommend trying it with matcha ice cream for a bittersweet balance that will tantalise your tastebuds.

Cafe Usagi Strawberry Dorayaki Cake

Sandwiched between two honey pancakes are freshly piped whipped cream with flavours like Matcha, Strawberry and Yuzu — Dorayaki Cake ($9.90). It is a delicious alternative to the traditional Dorayaki cake for special occasions.

There are also more variations to Doraki that Dorayaki lovers will appreciate. The Mochi Dorayaki ($6.90) embeds premium Hokkaido azuki red bean paste in the soft and incredibly stretchy mochi while the Cream Dorayaki ($7.90) is available in a myriad of flavours, from yuzu to matcha with red bean. A unique version is the An Butter, which marries Hokkaido azuki red bean paste with aromatic Japanese butter.

Cafe Usagi Lavender Hojicha Pot (Hot) and Strawberry Daifuku

Also available at Cafe Usagi is the Handmade Daifuku Fruit Mochi ($6.90) which is super soft and chewy. The mochi skin encases different seasonal premium fresh fruits, from strawberries to shine muscat grapes. Wrapping the fruit is a layer of premium Hokkaido azuki red bean paste, meticulously tailored by Chef Yuka, grounding the overall sweetness of the dessert.

The Japanese revere green tea, and Chef/Creative Director Yuka has used her expertise as a tea connoisseur to curate a selection that befits Singaporeans’ palates. The Hojicha tea leaves are delicately harvested and imported from Kyoto while the Sencha tea leaves are from Kyushu, Miyazaki respectively. All tea are served in pots, with prices starting from $7.50 which would pair well with their delectable treats.

Cafe Usagi

Together with co-founder Artini, Chef Yuka intends to bring Cafe Usagi TOKYO to other countries and aim to encourage entrepreneurs, females especially, to start their own franchise businesses like they did.

The interior of the café creates a congenial atmosphere where you can relax and indulge in tête-à-têtes with your friends and plans are also in the pipeline to transform part of the space into a retail store, where you can browse and purchase Japanese-themed products such as teapots, tea leaves and sake.
