An outdoor run can sometimes be beneficial to the mind. After all, it’s a low-maintenance method to keep in shape without having to pay for expensive gym memberships. If you want to keep up your running regimen, you’ll need a place to do it.
I’ll tell you about some of my favourite running spots. These locations are some of my personal favourites where you can’t see a towering building in sight, and you might be left wondering if you’re still in Singapore during your run.
1) West Coast Park
The West Coast Park is an isolated park in Singapore’s southwest corner. Even though it is on the west coast, you are unlikely to obtain an uninterrupted view of the sunset because there is a port right off the coast, so expect to see sunsets with cargo ships instead.
Because of the extensive playgrounds, BBQ pits, camping spaces, and a kite-flying field, West Coast Park is a favoured spot not just for runners, but also for families. The circle around West Coast Park is around 5 kilometres long and is better suited for short runs.
How To Get There: Take MRT to Haw Par Villa Station then head west for 1km
2) Woodlands Waterfront Park
As you run through Admiralty Park to reach Woodlands Waterfront Park, expect a mix of forest, mangroves, riverine, and open grasslands. Woodlands Waterfront Park is one of the rare spots in Singapore where you can see Malaysia without binoculars! I’d even argue that this park is the ideal site to see the skyline of Johor Bahru. And there’s a sunset if you visit at the right timing!
How To Get There: Take MRT to Woodlands Station, then run 900m to Admiralty Park. Run through Admiralty Park towards the north for 1.5km and you’ll arrive at Woodlands Waterfront Park.
3) Bishan – Ang Mo Kio Park
Bishan – Ang Mo Kio Park is without a doubt the best spot to run in Ang Mo Kio. It has beautiful views, drinking fountains, vending machines for snack breaks and most importantly, half of it is shaded. The park is divided into two halves by Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6. The west park is larger of around 3.5 kilometres in length, whereas the east park is smaller at 2.5 kilometres. There are water fountains in both parks, so you won’t need to bring your own bottle with pit stops along the whole stretch.
How To Get There: Take MRT to Bishan or Ang Mo Kio Station and run for 1km.
4) Punggol Waterway Park
Punggol Waterway Park is a 8.4km long park along the waterway that runs through Punggol Town in Singapore’s northeast. It’s a part of the North Eastern Riverine Loop, and it’s one of my favourite Singapore trails. Jewel Bridge, Adventure Bridge, Kelong Bridge, Wave Bridge, and Sunset Bridge are among the park’s five stunning bridges. Sunset Bridge and Jewel Bridge are two of my favourite bridges. It’s worth halting my run to take in the views from the bridge.
How To Get There: You can take the LRT from Punggol MRT Station to Damai LRT Station. Walk towards Punggol Road and you will find a path heading to the waterway.
Hey, are you ready to feel the effects of all that jogging? In our demanding job lives, we all know we need to get some exercise. Take some time to go for a gentle jog and inhale some fresh air while admiring the scenery.
