Ever wanted to experience escape room games but never had the chance to? Offering a wide range of themed rooms, The Escape Artist is definitely the place to go and have some fun!
Started in 2013 by owner, Justin Lee, and his partners, The Escape Artist is located in two areas: Harbourfront and a newly opened outlet at Joo Chiat. Some themes include horror and adventure. With each room having its own unique features and puzzles, players are sure to have an enjoyable time!
Engaging in an escape room for the first time? ‘Pangaea: The Lost Forest’ is worth the try. It was nerve wrecking but exciting for a newbie like me and who knows? There might be some unexpected things happening during the game so let’s dive in.
Upon Entering
Drawing back the curtains to enter the mysterious lair, we were greeted by fairy lights against a large mirror wall; perfect for Instagram-worthy photos to amp up the Instagram feed. There is also a rainbow-painted alley which called for more photos. (p.s there were many shots taken).
With only a few moments to spare after updating our gram, it was time to enter the room to play. Imagine being stuck in a boardgame and the only way to escape is to hunt for clues? This is what it is!
Upon entering, be wow-ed by the intricate details and huge adaptation of a boardgame. It was a sight to behold! From the placement of toy animals to the gravity defying waterfall, it was a creative masterpiece! It could be a spot for celebrations and parties with an extra fun twist. Furthermore, a set of costumes were provided to fully immerse into the game.
Puzzles
Given the rating of two for difficulty, the puzzles were pretty manageable I have to admit, my level of excitement increased with each puzzle that was completed – no kidding, I jumped.
As the game progresses, the puzzles to solve became more and more unique. There was a lot of thinking out of the box that stumped us and we had to crack our brains to solve the puzzles.
The satisfaction that came from clearing each puzzle with my team was definitely exhilarating and allowed for better bonding and tested our critical thinking skills.
Communication is key and always remember that, “Everything is in the escape room for a reason.”
Overall Verdict
After a fun day at The Escape Artist, there were several takeaways for me from being able to know more about others and seeing how they work under pressure as the timer ticks down. As a matter of fact, you may see a different side of your colleagues or friend that you never knew before (I know I did).
‘Pangaea: The Lost Forest’ is definitely a game I enjoyed immensely. With its consistent storyline and interactive puzzles, The Escape Artist got me hooked onto escape rooms and I will definitely come back for more.
