In a lively setting of neon lights, high tables, and flavourful small plates, Shakō-Ba opens as the town’s latest secret daruma-themed izakaya bar, inviting guests to enjoy a unique experience in town. The name “Shakō-Ba” is inspired by the Japanese word 社交 (Shakō), which means “socializing.”
Hidden behind an unassuming door, the bar offers a distinct daruma theme and promises nights filled with laughter, delicious food and inventive drinks. Fun games encourage socializing, with promotions like Buy-X-Get-X-Free Shots for sharing with neighbouring tables, and additional “side quests” that guests can complete for a chance to win free drinks.
Guests can start with Otōshi (1 for $5 or 2 for $8), choosing from six small appetizers, and continue with Shakō-Ba exclusives like Pitan Crab Tofu ($12), Salmon Treasure Box ($28) and Crispy Rice Sushi with Lobster or Unagi (2 for $12 each).
Grilled options include Minced Chicken Tsukune ($12) and Kombu Sprout & Potatoes ($10) among other delectable items. For sushi lovers, highlights include Mango Soft Shell Crab Maki ($14), Engawa Handroll ($12) and the luxurious Anago Foie Gras Handroll ($14).
Larger dishes like Salmon Katsu Mentai Cheese Carbonara Udon ($14) and Premium Chirashi Don ($58) are available plus a Daruma Birthday Platter ($28) that will make any celebration special.
With more than 100 drink options, the bar caters to diverse tastes with highballs, taruhai, Japanese sake, and exclusive cocktails like the Daruma Superbomb ($28) that serves up a unique tower of signature shots.
For a more intimate setting, Shakō-Ba offers a private 10-seat room for its exclusive Omakase Menu. Available only at dinner, this experience features 6, 7 and 8-course options priced at $98, $128 and $188 respectively.
Highlights include Deep-Fried Baby Crab, Grilled Japanese Barracuda, and a Sashimi Set featuring seasonal fish with house-made soy sauce foam.
Guests can find Shakō-Ba by climbing two flights of stairs, where a hidden entrance awaits, marked by Easter Egg Darumas. Inside, vibrant neon décor and high-energy atmosphere set the stage for an unforgettable night.
A private karaoke room with a minimum spend of $1000, seating up to 10 guests, is also available making it a perfect spot for group celebrations.
