Opening on 21st of August 2023, Burma Social stands as Singapore’s pioneering multicultural restaurant and bar, offering an experiential and captivating journey into the rich culture and heritage of Burmese people.
Serving a blend of culinary inspirations from China, Thailand, India, Bangladesh and Laos with Burmese cuisine at the core, each level of the restaurant will showcase a distinctive ambiance and music, inviting you to explore all echelons of Myanmar.
From the moment you enter Burma Social, anticipate a Golden Hour Welcome Drink, which is a Burmese-inspired cocktail served upon entry in traditional lacquerware.
Come dinnertime, there will also be a Burmese Silk Scarf Service that presents all with their own Burmese silk scarf to take home. You can also end the evening off by spinning the Buddhist bells at The Wishing Bells.
Cocktails and Mocktails
In the creation of the menu, the elements of the six kingdoms are distilled into each and every drink, focusing on fresh fruits, aromatics and a playful reimagination of classic cocktails ($25) and mocktails ($14) from each country.
From China:
- The Great Salted Plum – a traditional Whiskey Sour inspired by the East.
- Pepper Fashion – an Old Fashioned imbued with beer reduction and peppercorn trio syrup.
From Laos:
- Silky Smooth – a delicious Martini crowned with fresh rambutans
- Dragon’s Kiss – a mocktail made of dragon fruit juice, jaggery and fresh lime
From India:
- Jewel of India – a cheeky play on the Mata Hari cocktail featuring aromatic saffron, earthy cumin and tangy Kokum-Pomegranate.
From Banglagesh:
- Cox’s Bazar – a Monkey Shoulder blended Malt Scoth Whisky with Jackfruit.
From Thailand:
- Ginger Seduction – a luscious reimagination of Dark & Stormy with Thai Palm Sugar and Black Tears Spiced Rum.
The Feast of Six Kingdoms
Eagerly poised to extend a beautiful story-telling of Burmese cuisine and culture is the fictional persona Prince Pyu Pyu. This enigmatic figure has curated a chef’s table experience that guides guests through the zenith of Myanmar’s food heritage. Enjoy the feast of six kingdoms or you could also order the dishes below separately:
- Raw Coconut Milk & Broccolini Adorned with Flying Fish Roe ($22) – Creamy raw coconut milk soup with flying fish eggs, Burmese coriander and seasonal broccolini, sprinkled with finely crushed Burmese nuts.
- Papaya & Mango Thoke (Ye Thu Kyun) ($22) – a harmonious fusion of taste and textures with bittersweet Burmese papaya with sweet poached prawns.
- Laphet Nay Wai Thoke, Tea Leaf ($18) – a vegetarian and vegan-friendly salad of fermented tea leaves brightened with green tomato, cabbage, mixed Burmese nuts and Brussel sprouts.
- Crispy Tohu Jaw ($20) – tofu made from ground chickpeas drizzled with a Burmese black jaggery sauce that is concocted from Burmese gula melaka and Indian sugarcane for a dash of sweetness.
- Kyaw Swè Kyaw, Spicy Brinjal ($18) – Burmese brinjal flavoured with Laos herb and fermented sweet soy and spicy chilli.
- Hnin Si’s Steam Puzon ($32) – a dish of sous vide prawn and mudfish that is steamed into firm cakes.
- Ohn-no Kyaukswe, Rice Noodles ($32) – khanom chin gluten-free noodles elevated with a vegetable soup sweetened with sous vide prawns and barramundi fish cake.
- Mohinga Noodle Symphony ($34) – a rice noodle and Barramundi fish soup with the fragrance of herbs and spices from Burma.
- Burmese Stir Fried Vegetables, Shan ($28) – a medley of stir-fried string beans, radishes, tomatoes, swamp cabbages, onions and bamboo.
- A-thi, Burnt Mango and Black Jaggery Coconut Sorbet ($14) – torched mango served with house made coconut and gula melaka sorbet.
