CATBAKE is a new Japanese-themed bakery at The Star Vista that provides a wide range of baked items, from breads to cakes and pastries. As the name implies, the baked products adhere to an intriguing cat-themed concept so feast your eyes on the charming patterns before indulging in the delectable bakes!
The trending CATBAKE outlet was founded by famous pâtissier – cum – chef Shinya Tajima, who created the Neko Neko Shokupan, a cat – themed bread that has taken Japan by storm. The bakery at The Star Vista is the world’s first CATBAKE outlet and is worth checking out in our opinion. Here are some items that we tried:
Croque MonsieurFor just $4.50 you will be able to purchase the Croque Monsieur , a Japanese take on the traditional French sandwich. Enjoy the perfect blend of milky and cheesy béchamel with ham! For those who do not know, a croque monsieur is a hot sandwich made with ham and cheese. The name comes from the French words croque (“crunch”) and monsieur (“mister”). The dish was savoury and had the lingering taste of cheese which leaves us craving for more each bite.

The Cat Cheesecake ($28) defies its modest appearance with its delicious flavor, which is crafted with two layers of indulgent cheesecakes with a faint sour note and a delicate texture, all placed atop a wonderful crumb crust. For something more sweet, The Cat Chocolate Cake ($28), available in original and dark flavors, is a delicious chocolate delight.
Personally, we had the cheesecake and it was not as rich as I expected it to be plus the crust was made of bread instead of the usual graham cracker crust. However, there was an unexpected crunchiness which helped with the enhancement of the cake.

Other treats include the Cat French Toast ($3.60), which has overtones of vanilla and cinnamon, and the Cat Toast with Gelato ($9.10), which is ideal for a hot day. Our choice of gelato was cookies and cream and the dish had a unique taste of savoury as well as sweet which definitely alleviates the taste of the dish.
