Sometimes single-player games wouldn’t just cut it. Whether you want to take on hordes of zombies with a group of horror lovers, pool your brainpower to solve puzzles, or compete against another group of real-life gamers, playing together brings the game out of the screen and into reality as you laugh, scream, and quarrel. Here are some of my co-op games that I recommend playing with your friends.

  • Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

Well, from the title the game sounds simple right? Communication is key, defuse the bomb and nobody explodes. The game is split into 2 different sections, the one who’s defusing and the other reading a booklet of bomb-defusal document. The game starts off as he/she describes the bomb to the people in the real world.

The idea is to use the bomb disposal documents to defuse the device by actually talking to each other and cooperating. It’s all set to a time limit to add tension, and bombs get increasingly tricky to dismantle as you play. It’s brilliant fun, and a perfect party game. Get the game here.

  • Project Zomboid

Have you ever wondered what will it be like in a zombie apocalypse? Well, project zomboid is a realistic survival game where your goal is to survive. With its extremely steep learning curve and its realism, this makes it a challenging game to play. It’s recent multiplayer update allows user to connect with friends and it has become one of the most played games currently. Get the game here!

  • A Way Out

A way out is a game about escaping from jail. In my opinion, it seemed more like a cinematic movie than a video game to me. Take on the roles of Leo or Vincent, which serve as conduits for the players, allowing us to role-play as these two individuals and experience the thrills of eluding capture. A Way Out’s greatest strength is the chance to spend time with the characters and a real-life friend, even if the specifics occasionally lack some flair. Overall, it is still a great game to spend the weekend. Link for the game can be found here!

  • It Takes Two

Awarded as the Game of the Year 2021, It Takes Two is a lighthearted, tongue-in-cheek adventure that will keep both gamers and non-gamers entertained for hours. Taking different aspects from a number of games and weaving them into a rom-com-like story, there’s something for everyone – even kids.

It Takes Two follows a couple in a troubled marriage as they prepare for a divorce. The couple’s daughter weeps on dolls she created, which she transforms into little knitted animals. It’s then up to you and a friend to go back to the house and, ideally, repair your marriage in the process. Find the game here!

Cooperative games encourage communication and is a great bonding tool to spend some time with friends so play some of these games with your buddies today!
