After having 4 million units being sold since its launch in June 2021, Thai based alternative brand MEAT ZERO is now launching in Singapore. Part of CP Foods, Thailand’s largest agri-food company, MEAT ZERO will introduce six of its products, ranging from plant-based nuggets, bologna ham, chilli bologna ham, burger patties to ready-to-eat meals (meat & basil with rice and spaghetti bolognese) to the Singapore market.
Meat Zero encourages Singaporeans to go flexitarian and opt for plant-based proteins that are better for our environment without compromising on taste. The brand took more than three years to produce the plant-based meat products and uses the Plant-Tec process to create a high-moisture meat analogue process to texturise vegetable proteins into a product with a fibrous texture akin to animal meat.
Using this process, the appearances, mouthfeel and texture of the products are similar to those of real meat, without the lack of nutritional value. High fibre, non-GMO soy – which keeps cholesterol levels in check – as well as pea, wheat and corn, are the key ingredients.
At an affordable price point for new consumers to try out the products for themselves, the MEAT ZERO range includes the Meat Zero Plant-based Nugget ($4.50) that when deep- or air-fried has an airy crisp and a bite that is almost indistinguishable from the conventional nuggets that we had, be it from Mcdonalds or the one brought from Fair Price. If you have some spare Mcdonald’s curry sauce at home, this would be the best pairing for a quick snack.
For the ham lovers, make your own sandwiches with the Meat Zero Plant-based Bologna Ham ($3.95) or the Meat Zero Plant-based Chilli Bologna Ham ($3.95). Looking just like the real deal, the texture and taste is similar to ham and a good replacement when layered atop some grilled toast with cheese.
If you prefer something thicker cut and a little more mouthfeel, the Meat Zero Plant-Based Patty ($4.50) will help you make delicious meat free burgers in the comfort of your own homes. Make your own mini sliders or a full-sized burger to suit your tastebuds and add on your own favourite toppings and sauces for a delicious meal.
If cooking is not your forte, MEAT ZERO has ready-to-eat meals for sale as well. Get whisked away to the Land of Smiles with the Meat Zero Plant-Based Meat And Basil With Rice ($5.50). If you deemed yourself as an adventurous person who seeks or always challenges themselves with different kinds of spice level, the meat & basil with rice will be the perfect match for you as the heat will tease you with each bite.
For an Italian classic, the Meat Zero Plant-Based Spaghetti Bolognese ($5.50) has the alternative meat soused in a lovely and sweet tomato-based sauce just like their meat counterparts and tastes just as good. Furthermore, the offering contains no cholesterol and a great source of protein.
CP’s MEAT ZERO will be available at Cold Storage, NTUC FairPrice, FairPrice Online, RedMart, Amazon, Caltex, SPC and Sinopac Petrol Kiosks so go get yours today and try them out for yourselves. For more information, check out their website at or their Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates.
