22 months into the COVID-19 pandemic, there’s no sign of it slowing down. Even though Singapore’s achieved a tremendous rate of vaccination, our lifestyles are still not returning to pre-COVID times. For those who are searching for another Singapoliday while waiting for the COVID-19 global situation to stabilise, here’s a novel and therapeutic experience at Wildflower Studio to try with your children, partner, family and friends: Art jamming with cats.
Cats X Art: A Match Made For Purrfection
With cats? Yes, you read that right! With over 100 5-star Google reviews, this unique weekend activity will see you spending time with 4 fluffy resident cats, Sundae, Saffron, Soba and Sesame while you rejuvenate by expressing yourself with acrylic paint! What’s more, you get to choose to paint on a variety of surfaces which include canvases, round wooden boards, tote bags, nesting dolls and peg dolls- at no extra charge!
Where To Go
Wildflower Studio at 56A Niven Rd, Singapore 228405 can be found within the arts belt in Singapore and sits within walking distance of Little India MRT and close proximity of famous art schools like LaSalle, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and School of the Arts. You’ll be awed by how talented these students are, if you chance upon them in the same session as yours. Do note that they are open only on Saturdays and Sundays from 10.00am–12:30pm and 4:30pm–7.00pm.
Who Should Go
The experience is accessible to a wide spectrum of ages and aptitude, and it shows in the highly raved reviews. There are countless art references to browse through at the studio, but if nothing catches your eye, feel free to turn to inspiration online with the availability of phone holders at every easel. For the less adventurous, art guidance is also provided so you’ll be able to complete the experience with a piece of art you’ll be proud of- even if you’ve never painted before.
What To Expect
The four friendly fluffy felines each have their own unique personalities and are especially sociable and patient with all participants, thanks to the evenly spaced-out and limited sessions which allow them to take a break and recharge. You’ll be able to participate in feeding, grooming and playing with them in between working on your masterpiece.
In between the breaks, should they allow for it, some participants have had the opportunity to carry the cats, admire their toe beans and even rub their bellies. The experience usually ends with taking photos together with an available cat and your completed masterpieces.
Each 2.5 hour experience goes for $40, which includes all art materials and a drink (Bacha drip coffee or TWG tea, anyone?). This is further discounted up to $35 depending on the size of your group and/or how many sessions you book in advance. Do also keep a look out for their special workshops and December holiday camps for children which are seasonal.
