There is nothing better than being able to eat in once again as dining-in resumes for fully vaccinated people. What can be a better way to celebrate this than to stuff your face with dishes that are made to be enjoyed exclusively by dinners who are eating in? You can do just that at Yakiniku-GO’s newly opened outlet at JEM.
Here you will be greeted with a huge menu with endless choices of ready to cook meats ranging from steak cuts to the unconventional Gyutan (beef tongue). If you are here for your first time, don’t be intimidated as they offer 13 different set meals (starting at $9.80) which makes ordering here fuss-free.
For something fancy, turn to the JEM outlet exclusive Angus Striploin Steak (from $13.80). This cut of meat comes with an intense marbling pattern and a huge fat cap. When cooked properly, it is incredibly flavorful and tender, this is no surprise as the striploin is one of the eight prime cuts of beef.
The DIY Niku Sushi Set ($6.80) is another that should not be ignored especially if you are with kids. It comes with three slices of boneless beef short rib, fluffy pre-shaped rice, spring onions, sesame seeds, kimchi, and three pieces of seaweed. It allows you and your kids to cook and shape the meat into a perfect little bite of sushi. With the fatty slice of meat, the kimchi topping cuts through the richness, while the spring onions and sesame seeds give a nuttiness and brightness to the mouthful.
If you haven’t got your mind settled on a cut, the Yakiniku-GO Set (from $15.80) is a fantastic choice for tasting the various cuts offered. It includes a half or entire Ribeye Steak, 100 grams of Karubi (beef short plate), and Gyutan (beef tongue). Compared to the Angus Striploin Steak, the Ribeye Steak was rather tough. However, the Karubi and Gyutan made up for it with its glistening fat which drips through the grains of the fluffy white rice that comes with the set.
If you are craving a sinfully indulgent lunch, try out the Jyo Karubi ($11.90). It may appear to be unsettlingly fatty, but do look past it as this is what makes this cut very soft and flavorful.
All it needs is a few seconds on the grill to allow the fat to turn crisp and luscious.
In addition to a multitude of beef cuts, Yakiniku-GO offers a Salmon Batayaki ($9.80), which is a thick slice of flaky salmon in a teriyaki-butter sauce. Chuck the entire tray onto the grill to get the salmon cooking, but do keep an eye on it as it can get overcooked easily.
