Night walks are usually more common during camps. We get to experience the beauty of the night and embrace the peaceful silence around us. I love night walks. There is just something about it that makes me feel calm and at peace. Now, I get the chance to do that again at Rainforest Lumina.
Rainforest Lumina
From July 8th, 2021, the Singapore Zoo will be opening its doors for visitors to experience the spectacular display of luminous lights at the final season of Rainforest Lumina. Like previous editions of this amazing event, Rainforest Lumina will showcase a variety of different light displays as visitors embark on an adventurous night walk.
You will go through several zones throughout the walk, each showcasing a unique luminous light display. There are a total of 14 different zones and light displays. This last edition of the Rainforest Lumina will definitely be a memory you will never forget.
Meet The Creature Crew
However, you are not alone on this journey. As all the other animals fall asleep into the night, eight Creature Crew members will guide you through the night walk, with the aim of uniting humans, animals and nature. Let’s meet them!
Maya and Waja
Meet Maya, the Orangutan as she represents creativity. Maya understands the balance between the rainforest, animals and humans. She is a source of wisdom as the crew strives to live by their motto, ‘We Are One’. Maya represents the natural power of the universe in Hinduism, thus portraying her role as the nurturer of the rainforest.
Meet Waja, the Pangolin, also known as the comeback kid and he represents resilience. Though he may be a little clumsy, he never gives up and always get back up and try again. In Javanese, Waja means steel, which relates back to his strong defensive armour.
Poncho and Tairee
Also known as the stunt performer of the crew, Poncho the Flying Fox represent generosity as he loves sharing his daredevil skills with the audience. The reason behind his name comes from his form when he spread his wings to fly, it looks almost like a poncho.
Love the white tigers? Meet Tairee the White Tiger, which also means ‘courage’ in Tamil. Tairee wears his stripes proudly and is very adventurous. He loves surprising his crew members by sneaking up on them. Such a sneaky little one.
Casquette, Colette and Bob
Meet the hornbills, Casquette and Colette. This dynamic duo represents teamwork as they love working together and getting their hands dirty on building projects. They are also known as the builders of the crew.
Are you a little playful? If you are, then you will surely love Bob the Otter, representing playfulness. He loves making speeches and being the centre of attention. He is also a natural leader and knows how to incorporate some fun.
Bisou-Bisou and Slip
Spot the everchanging colours of Bisou-Bisou the Chameleon as he represents passion. He is known for his charm and fiery personality. He wears his heart on his sleeve and is always changing colours according to what he feels. His name also means ‘kiss’ in French. This is also reflected on how he send kisses with his tongue.
Need a little zen in life? Slip the Sloth is always happy and relaxed. Representing patience, Slip is a little behind the action but somehow right on time. Slip is also often found meditating in a yoga pose.
