Queens everywhere! Drag has been a phenomenon since the early days. People engage in the art of drag as a form of self-expression and performance. There are drag queens in almost every part of the world and I truly believe that the drag community has made a huge impact to society.
I have always loved watching RuPaul’s Drag Race. I have been watching it since the first season when BeBe Zahara Benet won and was hooked immediately and watched all the seasons up till now. Sometimes, I would rewatch some of my favourite episodes from several seasons.
Previous All-Stars Seasons
The All-Stars seasons are some of my favourites. They are very different from the normal drag race seasons. Challenges are taken up a notch, drag queens dress in the most beautiful couture, and most importantly, endless drama.
Season 1
The first season of Drag Race All-Stars took an unexpected turn when they had to compete in pairs. It was definitely shocking for the contestants as they have always been competing on their own. The season was definitely full of surprises, it would not be drag race if there were no surprises.
I was rooting for Team Latrila (Manila Luzon and Latrice Royale). They are two big personalities and are very talented individuals. Sadly, they were eliminated in Episode 3. The season ended with Chad Michael snatching the crown and earning her spot in the Drag Race Hall of Fame.
Season 2
Season 2 of All-Stars has got to be my favourite season. The cast was one of my favourites. Though most of the contestants were from Season 5 of Drag Race, the season was full of drama, and I was all for it.
I was rooting for Tatiana since her win for the first episode. She is such a fierce queen but I really think that her Snatch Game performance was a little flat and her jokes did not come through. I was then rooting for Katya. She was full of charisma, and I was really disheartened when she did not win the crown.
Season 3
The next season of All-Stars pretty okay, the cast was great as well. Bebe Zahara Benet was also invited to compete in that season. The stakes were high when the first winner of Drag Race came to compete.
My favourite episode was the last episode before the finale. They queens performed Kitty Girls and it is one of my favourite music videos of all time. Trixie Mattel won the season, snatched the crown and earned her spot in the Drag Race Hall of Fame.
Season 4
Season 4 was one of the most fashionable seasons of all. Looks queen everywhere. I loved Monique Heart since she made her entrance in Drag Race Season 10. She was the heart of season 10 and will always be the heart of Drag Race.
Unfortunately, she clinched 3rd place in the season while her sisters, Trinity the Tuck and Monet X Change won the crown and clinched their spot in the Drag Race Hall of Fame.
Season 5
The next season of All-Stars was pretty interesting. Queens from older seasons on drag race came back to compete in all stars. Queens such as Jujubee, India Ferrah, Ongina and Alexis Mateo had the chance to redeem themselves.
The season also had a unexpected twist where the top queen of the episode will have to lip-sync against a lip-sync assassin from previous seasons. The responsibility is not only placed on the top queen, but other queens will have to vote for who should be eliminated in the episode.
The season was won by Shea Coulee, and she definitely redeemed herself after losing to Sasha Velour in the finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9.
Drag Race All-Stars Season 6
I have waiting quite a while for All-Stars Season 6 to premiere. I was pretty excited for the season to air as there are more twists and turns happening in the season. As RuPaul would say, ‘it is a game within a game’.
This season similarly invites queens from older seasons to compete such as Jiggly Caliente, Sonique and Pandora Boxx. I am really pumped to see what the game is. I have yet to watch the episodes but will definitely watch it soon!
