Disney+ is a great movie streaming platform to watch all your favourite movies from Disney, Pixar, Star, Marvel Studios, and more. I could spend an entire day, in bed, watching some of my favourite movies. Pretty unhealthy, but you need to have a little me-time you know.
We get excited to watch new movies, but we forget to appreciate the short films that are available as well. At least for me, I do not watch short films that often. I tend to scroll pass them, thinking that it would not be as exciting as full-length. I was wrong. Even though they may not be as exciting, they have so much value in them that I have yet to learn and understand.
There are so many Pixar short films available on Disney+. Let us look at some of them and perhaps watch a few tonight!
Bao
Bao has got to be one of the most cutest Pixar short films ever. It tells the story of a Chinese mother who is sad after her son leaves home. However, she gets a second chance at motherhood when one of her bao came to life.
Throughout the film, she takes good care of Bao but not everything stays the same. Bao grew into a teenager and then an adult, but his mother was overprotective and stopped him from making his own choices.
It was hard for her to accept it and she way heartbroken. However, at the end of the film, her son returned home with a box of their favourite pastry as they sat down and enjoy each other’s company.
This short film reminds us that sure, our mothers can be overprotective at times but that is because they love us. Nothing could ever replace the love our mothers gave us. The film touched my heart and yes, I cried after the film ended. It is worth the watch!
Lava
This Pixar short film is an entire romantic musical. At Disney, anything can come to life and in this film, it is a volcano. The story describes how a lonely volcano longs for love. Day and night, all he did was watch other couples spend time together.
Dolphins, turtles, birds and even clouds have partners. Days went by but he never loses hope even though he was in a brink of extinction. He kept singing his song, hoping that one day, his chance at love will come.
Little did he know that under the depth of the sea was another volcano. She always knew that his song was meant for her. Her lava grew and she rejoiced. Sadly, he sank, but her love helped him rejoice and they lived happily ever after.
It is pretty romantic if you ask me, even though it is about volcanos. The film reminds me that everyone has a chance at love, all you have to do is wait for the right one.
Lou
Lou is another heart-warming Pixar short film that tells a story of a toy-stealing bully who ruins recess for the other kids. He takes almost all of their toys away and never gave them back. However, the Lost and Found box came up with a way to get him to return these stolen toys.
The boy got his beloved teddy bear stolen before by a bully as well. The Lost and Found box kept it all this while. The only way for the boy to get his toy back was to return the other toys to the other kids.
He agrees and he spends days returning them back to their owners. He kept returning until he realised that he had returned all of them. What was left in the box was his teddy bear. There are so many values in this short film.
Stealing is wrong and you should avoid it. It will result in you not having any friends as well. Friendships are created when you do others good. Finally, what goes around, comes around. If you are good to others, your happiness will come too.
These Pixar short films are such heart-warming stories you and your family can enjoy. Take some time off watching your favourite movies and watch these short films instead. Log into Disney+ and enjoy these shorts now!
