It is without a doubt that the first season of popular anime Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK) was one of the best shows to debut in the fall of 2020.
To celebrate the upcoming launch of Japanese retail brand UNIQLO’s Jujutsu Kaisen collection in late July coupled with its Netflix premiere on 3rd June, let’s look at the absolute best moments from season one of Jujutsu Kaisen. Here are six of the most iconic arcs and scenes from the show that made it such a lovable series.

Itadori Embodying Sukuna
In a frantic life-threatening moment with a cursed spirit trying to suffocate him to death at his high school, our rambunctious protagonist Yuji Itadori ate the very cursed object he was protecting: the finger of the strongest cursed spirit in the sorcerer’s world, Ryomen Sukuna.
This led to Sukuna incarnating into Itadori’s body due to him eating the cursed finger, which contained his fragmented power. Being unnaturally strong for a human, Itadori survived the incarnation and transformed into Sukuna, easily defeating his opponent.
This was no doubt a pivotal moment in the series, revealing to us how Itadori was imbued with cursed energy and how he would progress to develop his skills as a Jujutsu sorcerer.

Sukuna’s Domain Expansion
The battle between Yuji Itadori and the special-grade cursed spirit in the haunted detention center was a significant moment at the start of the series that showed us just how powerful Sukuna is.
Itadori was no match for the special-grade and lost his left hand and right index finger trying to defeat it. However, when he switched and Sukuna took over his body, the fight was over within mere minutes.
Not only does he heal Itadori’s injuries, he nonchalantly tears off the special-grade’s limbs one by one while still holding a (one-sided) conversation with it, and finishes it coolly off with his Domain Expansion.

Gojo VS Jogo
Ask any JJK fan who their favourite character is, and there’s a really high chance they’ll name Gojo Satoru, a sensei at Jujutsu Tech. And not just because of his good looks! Known as the most impressive sorcerer in the Jujutsu world, his fight with the formidable volcanic cursed spirit Jogo showed us what Gojo can truly do in battle.
Like Sukuna, he was having lighthearted conversation with Jogo while showing off his cursed spirit techniques, taunting him and making it clear that he wasn’t even fighting seriously. Towards the end of their battle, Gojo laid out his trump card – his Domain Expansion, dealing a final blow which sent Jogo’s head flying across the city.
While we appreciate Gojo’s face reveal from when he removed his blindfold to execute the Domain Expansion, we were certainly more impressed to see just how powerful he really is.

Itadori Died For Like 2 Days
The fact that the main character was one of the first few to kick the bucket may have come as a shock to fans, but he was actually just undergoing a tough internal negotiation with Sukuna.
Sukuna promised to bring Itadori back to life on two conditions. It was a comical moment when Itadori sat up on the autopsy table, completely naked but good-as-new, and had Gojo conversing with him like it was completely normal.
Itadori’s hilarious reunion with his peers through a surprise planned by Gojo to reveal that he had been secretly alive for the past two months was met with less-than-excited faces from his friends, and is not a scene you want to miss!

Itadori And Todo’s Brotherhood
The Kyoto Sister School Exchange Event in episode fifteen of Jujutsu Kaisen found a surprising but iconic bond between Itadori and Aoi Todo, a third-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High School.
Teaming up to fight the special-grade cursed spirit Hanami, Todo constantly pushed Itadori to go beyond the limits of his physical abilities and trained his Jujutsu skills on-the-job.
It was through this battle that Itadori and Todo formed a strong brotherhood, with the latter giving the former a pep talk on his abilities halfway through with Hanami watching. No one can forget the hard slap to Itadori’s face and his follow-up reply – “Thank you so much, besto friendo!” – to Todo, the revered catchphrase that even became a viral sound on the social media platform Tiktok.

Nanami And Itadori VS Mahito
It’s widely agreed that Mahito’s cursed transfiguration technique makes him extremely hard to defeat. When it seemed like he was on the verge of death, he gathered power from the depths of his soul to conjure his very own Domain Expansion, trapping Nanami and locking Itadori out.
Nanami accepted his fate knowing he was literally in the palm of Mahito’s hand. But before he could make a move, Itadori breaks into the Domain Expansion from the outside, forcing Mahito to touch Itadori’s soul and hence angering Sukuna.
Sukuna lets Mahito off but not without grave injuries, proving once again that he was indeed, the King of Curses. The sheer intensity of the fight and Nanami’s near-death experience definitely kept JJK fans at the edge of their seats.
Jujutsu Kaisen is highly speculated to be renewed for a second season following a prequel movie after the popularity of season one. While no official announcement has been made yet, fans can keep themselves occupied with the series finally coming to Netflix and counting down to its collaboration with UNIQLO.
