8 Of The Largest Breeds Of Dogs That You Wish You Owned

Calling all dog lovers out there, who doesn’t want to own a huge pupper! For those who don’t know, “Pupper” means “Puppy” in Doggo Lingo (or Dog-Speak). Maybe you are looking for a new companion, or don’t have the space or capacity to own one but whatever the reason is, now you can see some of the biggest gentle giants here.

1) Saint Bernard

These big furry friends are originally bred to rescue people in the Alps making them the finest rescue dogs. Saint Bernards are very hardy, they love to be busy, and are a delight in the eyes of all dog lovers. In terms of size, Saint Bernards can grow up to the height of 0.76 meters and weigh up to 81 kg!

2) Leonberger

Leonbergers got their names from the German city, Leonberg. Easy to train and with proper education, it can be raised as a watchdog. Leonbergers are also an ideal pet for the whole family. In terms of size, Leonbergers can grow up to the height of 0.81 Meters and up to the 77 kg in weight!

3) Doberman Pinscher

Doberman Pinschers are highly intelligent animals. They assess the situation and act accordingly making them excellent guard dogs that are willing to defend its owner from attackers. In terms of size, Doberman Pinschers can grow up to the height of 0.71 meters and up to 45kg!

4) Great Pyrenees

Great Pyrenees were once known as the royal dog of France and, with their stunning white coats and imposing presence, they are a sight to behold. Great Pyrenees are generally calm, well-mannered and are greatly devoted to their caretakers. In terms of size, Great Pyrenees can grow up to the height of 0.82 meter and the weight of 75 kg!

5) Dogue De Bordeaux

Dogue de Bordeaux are also known as the French Mastiff. The Boredeaux is very muscular dog and is usually put to work pulling carts, transporting heavy objects, and guarding flocks. If trained well, the Boredeaux can be an extremely good with children and can grow up to the height of 0.69 meter and weight of 65 kg!

6) Great Dane

The Great Dane is one of my personal favourites and for those who do not know, it is the same breed as the famous Cartoon Character Scooby Doo. The Great Dane may not be the largest, but what they lack in size they deliver in height. Great Danes can grow up to 0.9 meter and weigh up to 82 kg. Fun fact, the tallest Dog named Zeus earned the World Guinness Record for tallest dog with the height of 1.1 meter!

7) Anatolian Shepherd

The Anatolian Shepherd are confident, prideful and excellent defenders. They are loyal, playful and attentive to their family and will requires lots of physical activity. This is a breed for those who love living an active lifestyle. In terms of size, the Anatolian Shepherd can grow up to the height of 0.73 meter and weigh up to 65 kg!

8) Mastiff

Mastiffs are one of the biggest breeds of dogs known to mankind. Although they have a fearsome appearance, they have a loving personality and is very kind to children. Even though they are one of the heaviest dog breeds, the mastiff wouldn’t hurt a soul making it a very good family dog and one that can babysit children. In terms of size, the Mastiff can grow up to the height of 0.88 meters and weigh up to 90 kg!

These dog breeds are all gentle giants and would make a great addition to your household if you live in a private property that is big enough to contain them. I hope I have increased your knowledge on the different dog breeds available and that big dogs aren’t aggressive and can be lovable as well.
