Feeling adventurous or trying to become the man of infinite patience? Try these prawning places if you don’t have any plans yet this new year’s eve. Whatever the reason is, there’s no doubt that prawning is a great escape from the current situation from our pandemic and stress.
Of course, I was kidding when I said that you would be catching them with your bare hands as you would be using rods instead. All you need is some bait and patience, to snag a few prawns – Much easier to catch than their fishy brethren in my opinion. Bring them home or grill them on site or at your own home. But first, check out these 5 places to do prawning in Singapore:
Hai Bin Prawning is a great place to get away from your hectic schedule and spend quality time with your loved ones and friends. Prawn fishing here is worth every buck as the more you fish for prawns, the more you’ll save. A three-hour prawning session will cost you $36. And if you’re a seasoned pro who can spend an entire day prawning their 10-hour session only costs $100! Hai Bin Prawning also has a Banyan Bar and Kitchen, if you’re keen to feast while waiting for the prawns to bite. With finger food like drumlets, fries and calamari rings, and mains like chicken chops, you will be spoilt for choice.

10-minute walk from Hai Bin is Riviera Prawn Fishing, which is also open 24/7. Hai Bin can get pretty crowded with long waiting times, so it’s no wonder that many prefer heading to Riveria Prawn Fishing for its quieter environment. They’ve also got a reward system so you’ve more incentives to keep prawning. For example, you’ll get $10 in cash if you’re lucky enough to catch a tagged prawn. Their prices start at $18 for one hour, $28 for two hours, and $33 for three hours.
Address: 60 Punggol East, Golf Club, #01-11, Singapore 828825
Opening Hours: Daily, 24 hours

Ever find yourself bored in the west with nothing to do after the usual Jurong Bird Park (soon to move out) attractions and visiting the nearby shopping malls like JEM/Jurong Point/Westgate etc. This is a spot where you can have a quiet and relaxing time. They also have a Tagged Prawn Rewards system, where you’ll have a chance to win $2, $5, $10 or one free hour of prawning, based on the colour of tag attached on the prawn if you are lucky.
Address: 241 Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim, Singapore 629143
Opening Hours: Daily, 24 hours
Pricing: 1 hour – $20 | 2 hours + 1 hour free – $36
Most likely the largest prawning facility in Singapore, ORTO has a total of 10 ponds filled with big head prawns and yabbies, a type of crayfish. As large as 7 football fields, the compound is more than just a place to relax. They’ve got futsal, paintball, a trampoline park and drift karting too! Like the others if you’re lucky enough to catch prawns with tags, you can win prizes. Besides that, they also provide longkang fishing if you need something to occupy your kids and even a late-night bubble tea shop to quench your thirst.
