With top-notch Korean dramas, amazing K-beauty items, and mouth-watering cuisine, the Hallyu wave has swept through our Lion City. Where do we begin when it comes to Korean cuisine?   To help you solve your culinary conundrum, we’ve compiled a list of the best authentic Korean restaurants in the country.

Candy Namgung Ji Young, a former teacher, spent years cooking for Korean students in Singapore before opening her own restaurant in 2012. Naturally, the menu here is full of comfort food, which she prepares with a little guidance from her mother’s recipes. The restaurant’s no-frills appearance gives it a more natural, “homey” atmosphere, which contributes to its appeal.

Suyuk (steamed pork belly) and dakgalbi (pan-fried chicken) are the house specialties, which aren’t found in many Korean restaurants in the city. Some of the dishes have been modified to accommodate Singaporean tastes, but if you’ve ever eaten at a Korean family’s house, you’ll enjoy the food here. It’s best to make a reservation ahead of time because it gets really busy.

Location: 2 Kim Tian Rd, Singapore 169244

Opening Hours: 11.00am-9.00pm (Mon-Sun) | Delivery

Ajumma’s Korean Restaurant

Ajumma's at The Cathay - FOODNINJA·SG

Did you know that “Ajumma” in Korean means a married, or middle-aged woman? Here’s a place where you won’t break the bank. Instead of the regular one-pot-feeds-four Korean fare, Ajumma’s Korean Restaurant serves single-portioned Korean fares like Army Base Stew, Spicy Ramyeon, and Ginseng Chicken Stew. They also provide island-wide delivery through Oddle, Grab Food, and Deliveroo.

Location: 107 North Bridge Rd, #B1-31, Singapore 179105

Opening Hours: 11.30am-9.30pm (Mon-Sun) | Delivery

8 Korean BBQ

You’ll enjoy 8 Korean BBQ if you like you are looking for a modern take on authentic Korean food. The restaurant offers an intriguing 8 Colors Package, which includes eight different flavors of Berkshire pork for barbecuing, ranging from wine and ginseng to herbal and curry.

The package serves three to four people and includes a variety of side dishes such as kimchi and potato salad, as well as a seafood bean paste stew. If you’re in a smaller party, the 4 Colors Set allows you to choose four of the eight flavors. Choose from herbal marinade, which includes aromatic basil, rosemary, and other herbs mix and garlic. A la carte orders are also available for US Prime Beef, Argentinian Beef, and Ohmi Wagyu. They also serve chul pan (mixed rice) for lunch, which consists of sliced chicken, pork belly, or beef brisket stir-fried with various vegetables and red peppers on a hot grill.

Location: 1 Scotts Rd, #04 – 20 / 21, Singapore 228208

Opening Hours: 11.30am-9.00pm (Mon-Sun) | Delivery

Guiga Korean BBQ Restaurant

If you’re a big fan of mukbang, you’ve probably seen marinated raw crabs all over the place. Guiga Korean BBQ Restaurant serves Soy Sauce Marinated Raw Crabs, a rare dish in Singapore’s Korean restaurants. Fresh crabs are fermented in a soy sauce-based brine to give them a sweet and savory flavor.

Aside from that, Guiga is well-known for its excellent grilled beef. For the best beef experience, we recommend ordering their BBQ Kit Guiga A , which includes prime beef short ribs, marinated prime beef short ribs, prime beef ribs, and thin-sliced beef brisket.

Location: 134 Tanjong Pagar Rd, Singapore 088538

Opening Hours:

Monday – Thursday (11.00am to 3.00pm, 5.00pm to 12.00am)

Friday (11.00am to 3.00pm, 5.00pm to 12.00am)

Saturday (11.00am – 2.00am) + Sunday (11.00am – 12.00am) | Foodpanda

Even though travelling might be out of the picture in the coming months, these restaurants will definitely help fuel your Korean food cravings. Order delivery from these restaurants now!
